At Home With... Jesse Spencer from Neighbours by Matthew Hall Big!, UK, 18th September 1996
Fancy a wander around the home of Neighbours' Jesse Spencer? Does he really live with Casserole the sheep? Let's take a peek...
CD's I don't get CD's for free, I buy them all! These are my favourites. - The Presidents of the United States of America, Nirvana and Alanis Morrisette. I also have a few classical ones which are good for when I want to relax. The Presidents was the last one I brought. I'm going to see them when they play in Melbourne in a few months. I've got my tickets already!
The sheep This little fury thing is my Casserole substitute (the sheep from Neighbours.) It is a crazed old sheep. She just sits around and doesn't do much. It's pretty old, I think it's been in our family since before I was even alive.
Didgeridoo This is a holiday souvenir. I brought it from an Aboriginal guy at a place called Katherine in the Northern Territory. We went on a big holiday up to Kakuda, Darwin, Coober Pedy, and Alice Springs. We drove the whole way through the middle of Australia - it took three weeks. Ninety percent of the country is desert and it was very hot. It was a really good road trip.
Stuffed toys These are old koala bears and kangaroos that have been collected by me and my mum for years. We get them from markets or shops. You can't buy them at regular stores any more. They are really well-loved and some of them are really old.
Swords These are real swords. Most of them are from when Edward VII was king, around 1910 I think. They used them as dress swords, so they were for parades, not really for fighting. One is a Japanese samuri sword which is pretty scary!
Football This is an Australian rules football. I'm wearing the jumper of my favourite team Footscray, which is an area of Melbourne. Footscray are going really badly this year. The worst year in ages! Hopeless! Aussie rules is a very fast game and it's really exciting. I play a position called "rover" which means I can run anywhere, although I don't play that much since I started on Neighbours.
African statues My dad got these figures and there's a good story behind them. The Sultan of Brunei is the richest man in the world. He's a billionaire and he was trying to buy all of these statues from Papua New Guinea. They were being autioned but he turned up late so my mum and dad nipped in first. He was trying to get the whole set but mum and dad brought as many as they could before he arrived. The Sultan was spewing! Haha!
The drum set This is my drum set. It's good but I prefer playing the guitare. I play guitare with my band, Splade. We've played a few parties and won a band competition playing our song The problem with Amy. No, it's not about Dieter Drummer's old girlfriend - we just couldn't think of a better name for the song!
School books French is my favourite subject. I was going to go to France on exchange for a year but when I got the part on Neighbours I decided to wait. I can go to France any time! I quite like school. I'd rather not be there but it's not that bad. Just get it over and done with! I don't know what I'll do when I finish school. My dad is a doctor and my two older brothers are studying medicine so it's up to me to do something different!
Scooter the dog My sister Polly always wanted a dog so we got this small one called Scooter. She's a toy poodle, although we don't cut him like a poodle. She's more like a wolly black sheep. We got her three years ago from an advertisement in the paper. Last year, we got her a mate, Trojan, and we're going to breed them - although Scooter doesn't know about this yet. Trojan's been trying to practice but Scooter's been a bit off form.
