House Stars Jesse Spencer & Jennifer Morrison Call Off Wedding The Courier-Mail, Brisbane, Australia, 17th August 2007
THE office romance appears to be well and truly over for Jesse Spencer and his House co-star Jennifer Morrison, with the couple this week announcing they had called off their engagement.
The news will come as a shock to fans of the former Neighbours star, who met Morrison on the set of the Channel 10 hospital drama two years ago.
Spencer, 28, romantically proposed to his on and off-screen love over Christmas in Paris, offering up a ring in front of the Eiffel Tower and proposing in French.
But their plans for playing house together have since been re-written.
"After much consideration, we have decided not to get married," the duo said in a joint statement to People magazine.
"We are still very close and we look forward to continuing to work together on House."
It is not known if the pair are still dating but just recently the Aussie star denied that working with his girlfriend was fraught with difficulty - saying he couldn't understand why couples didn't enjoy sharing a professional relationship.
"I know there's a few old adages about working with someone you love, but things between us are really good," Spencer said in May.
"It's two very different relationships that co-exist extremely well. It works really well. And thank God for that.
"We're even thinking about jobs in the future, we've often said, couldn't we just always work together?"
How things can change in just three months.
The pair had planned to be marry later this year, although no locations or exact dates had been scheduled.
Jesse and Jen, both 28, provided no reason for ending the engagement and did not say whether they had also parted ways as a couple. The pair met in March 2004 prior to shooting the pilot of House and kept their romance a secret from their co-stars for months.
The break up comes just as their characters on House, Dr Robert Chase and Dr Allison Cameron, have moved their relationship to the next level, which could make for some tough acting.
